Coffee Room

Regarded as the historic home of The Jockey Club, The Coffee Room is an architectural gem. It dates back to 1752 when the newly established Club decided to build a coffee house on the High Street – following the fashion of the popular London coffee houses of the day.

Three Georgian windows look out on to the impressive bronze of Classic Derby winner Hyperion, which creates an imposing backdrop for any event. Another treasured feature is the series of arched, private booths decorated with witty cut-outs of society figures by the famous Maxims caricaturist, George Goursat – also known as SEM.

This room is often used as the ceremonial room, but can also be used for larger parties as it can accommodate 130 guests for a formal wedding breakfast.

The Card Room

The Card Room, as the name would suggest, was originally used for gaming and gambling between Members. This delightful space includes a splendid gilt mirror and a grand marble fireplace, and its large bay window looks out over the terrace and lawn providing a lovely setting for a variety of uses.

The Card Room is a perfect place to serve reception drinks and is also an ideal room in which to retire for coffee by the fire. The gentle ticking of an antique clock and its melodic hourly chime adds to the overall ambience of the Card Room. Alternatively, a theatre style set-up in this historic room lends itself to elegant and intimate civil ceremonies and underneath the exquisite chandelier makes a fantastic place to cut your cake.

The Morning Room

The Morning Room is the ideal gathering place for guests to enjoy reception drinks. This room is at the heart of the Club and is perhaps the most impressive of all the reception rooms as it houses the most important of The Jockey Club’s renowned art collection.

It has large French doors which open out onto the terrace and lawn making it just perfect when the weather is fine, while beautiful fine art lighting and chandeliers make it equally spectacular in the darker winter months.
The Morning Room can hold receptions for up to 40 guests, offering stunning views across the lawn, high ceilings, elegant décor and antique furniture, surrounded by unique racing memorabilia. Linking to both the Card Room and Dining Room and being the only room offering access to the terrace and garden, this beautiful space really is the focal point of the Club.

Our aim is that you and your guests feel like they are in a ‘home from home’, so sit back in the sumptuous sofas and let our team look after you.

The Committee Room

The Committee Room is our dedicated room for the dance floor. Here, you and your guests can dance the night away in style. Whether you want a 6-piece band or a DJ, we can adapt the room to suit you.

The Committee Room also has the added benefits of air conditioning and a 75” flat screen discreetly hidden behind a painting. This can be used if you want to show your guests a video, or simply want a photo slideshow of yourselves, family and friends.

We understand how much the little extras enhance the day to make it truly memorable, that’s why we always make the extra effort to perfect every detail.

The Dining Room

Inside the Members’ Dining Room stunning Georgian chandeliers hang from a high ceiling, surrounded by long, elegant walls adorned with silk wallpaper and equestrian masterpieces.

You will find paintings of Derby and Oaks winning thoroughbreds hanging proudly from the walls which were painted by Bavarian artist Emil Adam and commissioned by Members of The Jockey Club. In addition to this, it is home to the second-longest dining table in the UK outside of Windsor Castle which is beautifully crafted from antique mahogany and seats up to 42 people.

The Dining Room can host receptions for up to 130 people, or dining for up to 70. The Room has a large bay window overlooking the terrace and lawn, with access to the Morning Room next door.

The Dining Room is perfect for the most elegant of wedding reception dinners and indeed, makes the ideal setting for a truly unique ceremony.
