To this day a private members club, The Rooms has spent most of its existence shrouded in mystery, however, in more recent times it has opened its doors for members of the public to see inside and walk in the footsteps of Kings, Queens, Prime Ministers and sporting greats. Champagne Afternoon Tea & Tour 2022

In partnership with Newmarket’s tourism hub, Discover Newmarket, The Champagne Afternoon Tea and Tour is the perfect opportunity to gain a glimpse behind the scenes at The Rooms. Please note, all bookings are to be made via Discover Newmarket.

This fantastic experience begins with a guided tour where our Rooms Stewards will spend 90 minutes regaling guests with a fascinating account of our illustrious history, while presenting our exceptional collection of sporting art and memorabilia spanning hundreds of years.

Following the tour, guests will be seated in the glorious dining room to indulge in exquisite a Champagne Afternoon Tea, freshly prepared by our extremely talented Executive Head Chef and his team. Indulge in a selection of sweet and savoury treats accompanied by a range of specially blended Jockey Club teas.

Private and bespoke tours

Private tours of The Jockey Club Rooms can be arranged on dates that fall outside of the racing calendar. These fascinating tours, which include humorous tales of rich and famous racing gentry, last approximately 90-minutes and can be arranged to include lunch, afternoon tea or dinner.

Outside of our racing calendar we are happy to arrange exclusive bespoke tours of Newmarket for private groups via our affinity with Discover Newmarket. In the past these tours have not just appealed to racing enthusiasts but to those who are interested in learning more about a sport that is an intrinsic part of our cultural heritage. These unique events have been used by guests to celebrate important occasions such as a milestone birthday or a retirement.

An event can consist of:

A grand dinner in The Jockey Club’s historic Dining Room
A private tour of The Jockey Club Rooms and its famous art collection
Overnight accommodation in our country house style bedrooms
An early morning tour of the Jockey Club Estates training gallops – wellies provided
A private visit to one of Newmarket’s famous training yards
Visits to the National Stud and National Horseracing Museum
